The recent COVID-19 pandemic has impacted many areas of our lives, yet despite the challenges, we continue to be fortunate to train residents in a supportive family environment with a structured yet collegial learning environment with an amazing patient population and diverse clinical experiences.

The UCSF Fresno Pediatric Residency Program emphasizes academic excellence and affords trainees a high degree of autonomy and encourages personal growth.  We emphasize a hands-on approach to training that engenders mature decision-making yet is coupled with supportive faculty and staff.

Our residents learn to become excellent clinicians with a strong knowledge base in general pediatrics, the tools needed to continue lifelong learning using evidence-based medicine, and the confidence to execute these skills in an effective manner.

Our program provides you with the opportunity to work closely with a committed and talented faculty, who are both well-trained clinicians and dedicated teachers. Our faculty members participate in clinical research activities at UCSF Fresno and all of our residents participate in one or more scholarly research projects geared toward each individual’s academic interests.

After 3 years of residency, you will be well prepared for practice as a general pediatrician, pediatric hospitalist, or entry into any pediatric subspecialty fellowship.  The options available are as varied as where your career interests lie.

Help us run an active urban general pediatric clinic in a federally qualified health center and learn inpatient medicine in a regional medical center and children’s hospital with depth and breadth of patients and pathology.  You will have numerous experiences, both clinically and culturally, that will be life changing and are second to none.  Your patients will very soon identify you as their doctor, and with them, you will build a therapeutic alliance and make a difference.

This year our residency interviews will be in a virtual format, yet we look forward to meeting you and invite you to consider taking your journey in pediatric residency training with us.  Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.

Best,
