Resident and Fellow Borba Housestaff Research Awards
The purpose of the HOUSESTAFF RESEARCH AWARD is to stimulate creative research by recognizing a resident and a fellow whose research is judged by a review committee to be the most significant and meritorious during the academic year. Separate awards will be presented to residents and Fellows.
The research may be in any field of biomedical or behavioral sciences, either clinical or non-clinical, must be original work designed and conducted by the Resident or Fellow, and must be conducted during the training years at UCSF Fresno.
- Previous award winners are not eligible to apply.
- Only one submission per person will be accepted.
- If you are not the first author, you must explain your role in the project.
The UCSF-Fresno Research Committee, comprising faculty members and scientists from the Fresno medical and scientific community, will judge the submissions.
All Submissions must be uploaded by midnight on Sunday, March 29, 2025 to the appropriate link for Residents or Fellows as indicated below. No paper submissions will be accepted.
Resident Instructions
Residents must submit an abstract of up to 1000 words in PDF format. The abstract should be prepared in a format suitable for submission to a regional or higher-level professional meeting.

Fellows must submit an abstract of up to 1000 words in PDF format. The abstract should be prepared in a format suitable for submission to a regional or higher-level professional meeting.

Faculty Research Awards
The purpose of the FACULTY RESEARCH AWARD is to stimulate creative research by recognizing the faculty member whose research is judged by a review committee to be the most significant and meritorious during the academic year. The award, which carries a $1,000 allowance for conference travel, research material, or classes, will be presented at the UCSF Fresno Graduation in June
All faculty members (part-time or full-time) at UCSF Fresno are eligible for this award. The research may be in any field of biomedical or behavioral science, including both clinical and non-clinical areas. It must be original work in which the faculty member serves as principal investigator while a member of the UCSF Fresno faculty. The submitted paper will be considered together with the body of scholarly work completed during the tenure of the faculty member at UCSF Fresno. Please submit a list of scholarly activities summarized in a CV in UCSF format as used in the Advance system, and an example of this work submitted as a scientific paper in draft form, suitable for submission to a peer-reviewed journal. Acceptance for publication is not a requirement. Abstracts and chapters should be notated in your CV.
