Welcome to the online electronic application for UCSF Fresno!

Visiting Students:
Please only submit a UME application if you have received a formal VSLO offer via VSLO with your desired elective and rotation date. If you have not, please make sure you:

1. Apply via VSLO unless you are applying for Wilderness Medicine or are an UCSF or International student.
2. Communicate with Department Coordinator
3. Received and accepted a VSLO Offer in your VSLO portal

Please Note: Submitting an online electronic application (UME Application) prematurely does not secure rotation dates or will it notify the department that you are interested in their elective.

When all the above requirements have been met and you are satisfied with the elective and rotation timeframe, please submit a UME application. Please ensure to complete the application entirely to prevent any delays. Each page is timed, so please complete it accurately and in a timely manner.

2. Enter “student” for username
3. Leave password section blank.
4. Click "Sign in"

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I had technical difficulties, or the system timed out; do I need to reapply?
No. Please use the same link to log back in; enter the same first name, last name, and last 4 SSN you had used. Information MUST match what you had used initially. If it does not, you will get an error message.

How long does it take for UME to receive, review and respond to my application?
7-10 business days. UME staff will reach out to confirm your application and advise if additional documents are required.  

When should I pay my fees?
​All students must pay the application fee once you receive the VSLO offer. If your home school is on the list below, you are not required to pay a tuition fee. If your home school is not on the list, the tuition fee is due 30-days before your rotation to fully secure your spot.

Department Contact

Medical Students ONLY, to check on dates for your rotation, please email the appropriate UCSF Fresno scheduler (listed below). Once you agree upon tentative dates with the UCSF Fresno scheduler, enter the course name/number/dates into the VSAS system for formal approval and tracking.  Then, once directed to do so, enter info into the UCSF Fresno elective application and submit it.

Allied Health Professionals/Mid Level/PA & NP students seeking clinical rotations.  Please refer to the PA/NP Policy for instructions here:  fresno.ucsf.edu/medical-student-programs/pa-np-policy/.  Please do not contact the medical student coordinator as the UME Office team will coordinate AHP rotations.
