Letter to Students Attending Offshore or International Medical Schools
(Including Non-LCME or Non-AOA Accredited Schools)
Thank you for your interest in the UCSF Regional Campus at Fresno.
Policy and Exceptions
The UCSF Fresno policy states that international students and students from non-LCME- or non-AOA-accredited institutions are normally not accepted to participate in electives.
Occasionally, exceptions may be made when a medical student submits a petition demonstrating specific and close ties to the Fresno or Central Valley area and eligibility through U.S. citizenship or appropriate visa status.

Official Transcript
Proof of one of the following:
• U.S. citizenship
• Permanent U.S. residency
• Eligibility to enter the United States through the appropriate visa waiver program (additional costs may apply)
Review Process
1. The petition will be reviewed by the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education (UME).
2. Applicants will be contacted by UME staff within approximately 30 days regarding the decision.
Fees
Application Fee: $300
Tuition (4 weeks): $800
Tuition (2 weeks): $250
Visa Processing Fee (if applicable): $500
Do not submit any application fees at this time. If your petition is approved, the UME office will contact you with the next steps and provide a payment portal link.
