During this public lecture series attendees will hear from UCSF Fresno experts and learn about local trends in medicine and health sciences. The 2023 series will focus on new medical research coming out of UCSF Fresno and the impact of these findings in the Central Valley.

Health Equity Symposium

Misinformation and biased legislation across the country leads to implicit bias towards transgender youth. Information in many medical schools still contains many inaccurate assumptions and teaching around LGBTQ+ care in general and the connection of HIV status with the LGBTQ+ community. At the third installment in the UCSF Fresno Health Equity Symposium series, clinicians will be exposed to gender affirming care for this population: What it is and how crucial it is to gender expansive and transgender youth.

The Seventh Annual UCHMC Research Symposium


The University of California Hematologic Malignancies Consortium (UCHMC) is a collaboration across the 5 University of California Cancer Centers and UCSF Fresno to conduct multicenter investigator-initiated clinical trials in a more efficient and effective manner. The 7th Annual UCHMC Research Symposium will include discussions on opportunities for collaboration across the UC system, translating recent laboratory discoveries into new therapies, application of novel therapies in hematologic malignancies, and ongoing clinical trials currently being conducted by the UC Hematologic Malignancies Consortium. All members of the UC community are invited to attend.

Advancing Excellence in LGBTQ+ Health
 

The Advancing Excellence in LGBTQ+ Heath conference, the first installment of the UCSF Fresno Health Equity Symposium series, will feature experts from a wide variety of fields including physicians, surgeons, and mental health professionals who are specialists in LGBTQIA+ care. Attendees will learn about gender affirming hormone therapy or surgeries, increasing inclusivity, and opportunities to improve medical practices in an area where the demand for care is greatly needed. ​

2021 Wilderness Medicine Conference
 

In the wilderness, definitive care is often hours to days away. Care providers in this setting must be prepared to stabilize and care for their patients with limited medical resources. This day-long program will increase specialized knowledge and skill sets to aid patients effectively in remote and wilderness settings.

Assessing the Needs of Opioid Seeking Patients
 

This program was created to help opioid prescribers develop a comprehensive approach to address the needs of all opioid seeking patients. The focus of these sessions will include patient-centered care, a harm-reduction approach to substance use disorders, best practices in Buprenorphine prescribing, and how to decrease physician discomfort in the management of opioid seeking patients.
