Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography Fellowship

Training experts in ultrasound through didactic and hands-on experiences

UCSF Fresno is proud to offer a one-year Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography Fellowship at Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) in the heart of California’s San Joaquin Valley. CRMC is a busy level I trauma center treating over 110,000+ patients per year and is the only level I trauma center between Sacramento and Los Angeles. The patient population is medically underserved leading to a generally high acuity of illness and a broad variety of pathology. Point-of-care ultrasound is frequently used to expedite the care of ED patients and aid in rapid diagnosis. The web-based image archival system used is Sonosite Synchronicity, and it is fully integrated with the EMR (Epic), which allows for placement of images/reports directly into patient charts.

The fellowship program is structured after the Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography Fellowship (AEMUS) program requirements established by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) and is accredited by the Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Accreditation Council (EUFAC). The program’s two core faculty members are ultrasound fellowship-trained and both hold a Focused Practice Designation (FPD) in Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography through ABEM. In addition, our two adjunct faculty members have over 25 years of experience using point-of-care ultrasound.

Fellows will receive instruction in advanced ultrasound applications and gain experience in ultrasound program administration, faculty and resident education, ultrasound billing and reimbursement, credentialing and privileging, quality assurance review, and image management.

Our program’s goal is to provide high-quality, comprehensive education in advanced emergency ultrasonography and to prepare fellowship graduates to serve as ultrasound leaders in both academic and community settings. We hope you will consider joining us for an exciting and fulfilling year.
