BACKGROUND:

The UCSF Fresno Alzheimer & Memory Center is one of ten California Alzheimer’s disease centers. A multi-faceted team at UCSF Fresno AMC evaluates, diagnoses, provides treatment, resources and education and support to people with Alzheimer’s and their families. The UCSF Fresno AMC’s service area includes: Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, Mariposa, Stanislaus, Tulare, San Luis Obispo, and Tuolumne counties. UCSF Fresno AMC is the only facility in the area that offers a team approach to diagnosing and assisting families with treatment plans and referrals to community resources.

Leaders in the medical community, including John Blossom, MD, along with David Ira Margolin, MD, PhD, and Glen Doyle, NP, PsyD, were instrumental in developing the proposal for the state grant, which secured the funds for the establishment of the UCSF Fresno Alzheimer & Memory Center.

The AMC moved to its current location in October 2013 to be more centrally located and easily accessible from the freeway.

The Center is partially supported by the State of California with grant funding as well as private donations. AMC welcomes tax-deductible donations which are used to support patient care, education and research.

UCSF is the nation’s leading university exclusively focused on health and is dedicated to transforming health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care.
