WHO: Eighty-one newly minted doctors who start their medical residency training at UCSF Fresno Medical Education program this month, will begin their studies with a clinical skills orientation.
WHAT: Groups of residents will practice patient care skills under the direction of experienced UCSF Fresno faculty and resident physicians using a variety of methods, including advanced adult and pediatric simulation mannequins. Airway management, central venous catheterization and advanced cardiac life support will be among the clinical skills practiced. Residents also will train in suturing skills and communications scenarios with physicians, patients and nurses.
WHEN: Friday, June 22, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
WHERE: UCSF Fresno Center for Medical Education and Research, 155 N. Fresno St., Fresno, First Floor
INTERVIEWS: UCSF Fresno faculty physicians, including Stacy Sawtelle, MD, assistant program director, emergency medicine and educational director of the clinical skills lab, and Stuart Maxwell, MD, technical director of the clinical skills lab. New and current UCSF Fresno medical residents also will be available for interviews.
