UCSF FRESNO ALZHEIMER’S & MEMORY CENTER PRESENTS CONFERENCE FOR CAREGIVERS

FRESNO – UCSF Fresno Alzheimer’s & Memory Center, along with Valley Caregiver Resource Center, will present a conference “Caring for the Caregiver,” Saturday, June 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton ( 3737 N. Blackstone Ave.) in Fresno.

The event is aimed at offering information and support to those who care for a family member, friend or other person with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia.

Conference participants will learn how to better cope with their role as a hands-on health care provider, care manager, friend, companion, surrogate decision-maker and advocate. They also will learn how to reduce stress and improve their own mental and physical well-being.

In the United States, an estimated five million informal caregivers attend to someone with dementia, according to the Family Caregiver Alliance.

The cost of the conference is $10 for caregivers and $45 for eligible health-care providers interested in obtaining continuing education units.
