MEDICAL MANIA CONFERENCE FOR HIGH SCHOOLERS ON APRIL 24

The fourth annual Medical Mania conference for Doctor’s Academy high school students is set for Saturday, April 24.
Hosted by Sunnyside High School, Doctor’s Academy Program, CSU Fresno Health Career Opportunity Program and the UCSF Fresno Latino Center for Medical Education and Research, the event provides opportunity for the high school students and their parents to participate in informational workshops. Guest speakers will cover a variety of topics, ranging from medicine to personal development.

The conference will take place from 7:30 am – 12:00 pm at CSU Fresno State University, Student Satellite Union Building.

Program highlights include welcoming remarks and overview by Dr. Katherine Flores, director of UC Latino Education Program. Staff and students will present a “Doctor of the Year” award to a medical professional on behalf of his or her continued dedication, support, and hard work throughout the school year for providing opportunities and exposure to the students in the Doctor’s Academy program.

In addition, the newly admitted Doctor’s Academy students of the class of 2008 and the second graduating class of 2004 will be recognized.

· “Look Good – Be Smart”, Brenda Buckingham of Buckingham IMAGES and Modeling
· “Social Issues Impacting College Life & Preparing for the Sciences,” CSU Fresno Health Careers Opportunity Program
· “Your Children – The Future Faces of Medicine,” video teleconference from the UCSF School of Medicine
