The Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators recently announced the Academy Class of 2024. We are pleased to share that two UCSF School of Medicine faculty members at our Regional Campus in Fresno and a UCSF Neurology faculty member who has been instrumental to our campus are among the new members. Congratulations to:
- Joseph Sanford, MD, Department of Neurology
- Geetha Sivasubramanian, MD, FIDSA, Department of Medicine and
- Mark Terrelonge, MD, MPH, Department of Neurology
Dr. Sanford is assistant director of the UCSF San Joaquin Valley Program in Medical Education, UCSF Fresno Neurology clerkship site director, and medical director of the UCSF Fresno Ambulatory Care Neurology Clinic. He also is a 2023-2024 graduate of the UCSF Teaching Scholars Program.
Dr. Sivasubramanian is chief of the UCSF Fresno Division of Infectious Diseases in the UCSF Fresno Department of Medicine and program director of the UCSF Fresno Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program.
Dr. Terrelonge has worked diligently to establish a remote ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) clinic in Fresno and the San Joaquin Valley and he is a key faculty member in our Neurology clerkship which is vital to our medical student education.
Academy of Medical Educators inductees demonstrate excellence in direct teaching of learners and/or faculty development for teachers and educators. In addition, new members exhibit outstanding accomplishments in one or more additional areas of health professions education activity: mentoring and advising; curriculum development, instructional design, and technology; educational leadership; and learner assessment.
The 24th Annual Celebration of New Members will be held Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at the Byers Auditorium at Mission Bay and via Zoom. The celebration honors the incoming Academy Class and recognizes the contributions of “front-line” teachers, educators and mentors who positively impact our learners and faculty peers on a regular basis and contribute to making UCSF an outstanding health care institution.
Congratulations, again, to our faculty in Fresno and all new Academy of Medical Educators members on their well-deserved recognition.
