Why did you choose OBGYN?
I chose Obstetrics and Gynecology because it is the perfect intersection of medicine, surgery, and advocacy. It allows me to support patients through some of the most transformative moments of their lives, whether that’s welcoming a new baby, navigating a complex diagnosis, or reclaiming their reproductive health and autonomy. Growing up in a community where culturally competent care was often lacking, I witnessed firsthand the impact of health disparities, particularly in women’s health. These experiences ignited my passion to become a physician who listens deeply, advocates fiercely, and provides compassionate, care. I am inspired by the resilience of the patients we serve, and I’m honored to walk alongside them in both moments of joy and in times of vulnerability.
Why do OBGYN at UCSF Fresno?
I chose the UCSF Fresno OB/GYN Residency Program because it embodies everything I value in a training environment: a commitment to excellence in patient care, a strong surgical and academic foundation, and a mission to serve underserved populations. Having completed my medical education in the Central Valley, I’ve developed a deep connection to this community and a firsthand understanding of the healthcare disparities patients face here. Most importantly, this program gives me the opportunity to continue serving the Central Valley—a place that has shaped my journey and where I hope to make a lasting impact. I’m honored to train at an institution that not only challenges me to be my best but also shares my passion for equitable, patient centered care.
Hobbies/Facts/Interest
Outside of medicine, I find joy in the simple things that help me recharge and stay grounded. I’ve loved reading ever since elementary school, mystery and thriller novels are my favorite, but I enjoy anything that draws me in with a good story. English is actually my second language; I grew up speaking Punjabi, and learning English through reading played a big role in shaping who I am today. I also love the occasional show binge, it’s a fun way to unwind after a long day. Over the next few years, I hope to travel more and experience new cultures, food, and perspectives. Whether I’m curled up with a good book, discovering a new city, or sharing a meal with loved ones, I try to stay curious and open to growth both inside and outside of the hospital.
