Alexander Sherriffs, M.D., received his BA degree from Yale University, graduated from the University of California, Davis Medical School, and the University of California, San Francisco, Fresno, Family Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Sherriffs volunteered two years with the Indian Health Service in Northern Michigan, operated a half-time rural private practice for 34 years and is the past president and past chair of the Public Health Committee of the Fresno-Madera Medical Society.

He oversees the geriatric and nursing home experiences of our residents, provides training in vasectomy procedures, and coordinates interns’ community medicine month.

He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He serves as Medical Director at the UCSF-Fresno Alzheimers and Memory Center. He is the recipient of the California Academy of Family Physicians 1999 Barbara Harris Teaching Award.

He was first appointed by Governor Brown in 2011 to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District Board and the California Air Resources Board, and reconfirmed by the State Senate in 2012 and 2016.
