WHO:
More than 80 new physicians, who start medical residency training at UCSF Fresno Medical Education program this month, will begin with a clinical skills orientation.
WHAT:
Groups of residents will practice patient care skills under the direction of experienced faculty and resident physicians at UCSF Fresno using a variety of methods, including advanced adult and pediatric simulation mannequins. Airway management, central venous catheterization and advanced cardiac life support will be among the clinical skills practiced. Residents also will train in suturing skills and communications scenarios with physicians, patients and nurses. This clinical skills boot camp is funded by the Leon S. Peters Foundation.

Friday, June 24, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Best time for interviews and photo opportunities is from 10 to 11 am

INTERVIEWS:
Faculty physicians at UCSF Fresno, including Stacy Sawtelle, MD, assistant program director, emergency medicine and educational director of the clinical skills lab, and Stuart Maxwell, MD, technical director of the clinical skills lab will speak to media. New and current UCSF Fresno medical residents also will be available for interviews.
