VALLEY VISIONS EVENT RAISES FUNDS FOR AND AWARENESS OF UCSF FRESNO

FRESNO – Approximately one-third of physicians practicing in the greater Fresno area were trained at UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program. Yet many people are unfamiliar with UCSF Fresno and the contributions it makes to health care in the San Joaquin Valley - from training physicians who stay in the area to provide care to addressing regional health issues through clinical research to performing community service and creating a pipeline of students prepared for careers in health and medicine.

To raise funds for and increase awareness of UCSF Fresno, the local medical education program will hold Valley Visions 2013 on Saturday, June 8 from 6 to 11 pm at the Van Beurden Garden Estate in Clovis.

Note: Media should park outside the estate on the right side of the road to leave room for the trolleys. Parking for attendees is available at Trinity Community Church at 12168 N. Willow Ave.

Highlights:

  • Food and beverage tastings from nearly 40 local purveyors
  • Celebrity chef Gabi Moskowitz and author of “The Brokeass Gourmet Cookbook”
  • Live music by Run 4 Cover
  • Silent and live auctions
  • Hundreds of physicians and other community leaders
  • Self-guided garden tours

Proceeds from Valley Visions benefit UCSF Fresno’s efforts to train and retain physicians and expansion of clinical research at UCSF Fresno.

Thanks to donations totaling $1 million from numerous local organizations and individuals, construction is starting on UCSF Fresno’s Clinical Research Center. When completed, the 3,300 square-foot center will make cutting-edge treatments more accessible to San Joaquin Valley residents by expanding the variety of research studies and clinical trials conducted at UCSF Fresno. Located on the third floor of the UCSF Fresno Center for Medical Education and Research in downtown Fresno, the cost of the Clinical Research Center is projected to be $1.5 million.
