UCSF FRESNO PHYSICIANS PERFORM FREE PHYSICAL EXAMS FOR ROOSEVELT HIGH STUDENT-ATHLETES

FRESNO – Medical residents training in internal medicine at UCSF Fresno Medical Education and Research Program will provide free physical exams for Roosevelt student-athletes from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, Sept. 15 in the gymnasium at Roosevelt High School, located at 4250 E. Tulare St. in Fresno.

As a requirement of participating in school athletics, students must receive an annual physical examination by a medical practitioner certifying that students are physically fit to take part in athletics.

As a service to the community, UCSF Fresno medical residents periodically perform free physical examinations for local students.

“Community service is an important aspect of the UCSF Fresno internal medicine teaching program,” said Ivy Darden, MD, internal medicine program director at UCSF Fresno. “This activity is a win-win. Our residents gain the contentment that comes with giving back to the community and the students and their families benefit by receiving necessary physical exams at no cost to them.”
