UCSF FRESNO AND SUNNYSIDE HIGH SCHOOL DOCTORS ACADEMY TO HOLD INFORMATION NIGHT FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

The University of California, San Francisco, Fresno Latino Center for Medical Education and Research and Sunnyside High School will host an information meeting regarding the Doctors Academy on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Sunnyside High School (1019 S. Peach Avenue) in Fresno. All Fresno Unified School District and Fresno County eighthgrade students who are interested in careers in the health professions and their parents are invited to attend.

Participants will learn about the Doctors Academy admission requirements and expectations of the program. Participants also will hear about the unique partnership with the UCSF School of Medicine and other community partners who work together to prepare students for health professional careers. Current Doctors Academy students, Sunnyside High School and UCSF staff will be available to answer questions.

Established in 1999, the Doctors Academy is in its 12th year at Sunnyside High School. The Doctors Academy has a 100 percent high school graduation rate and 100 percent of graduating seniors are accepted into four-year universities.
